Weโre excited to share that Kwathu Kollective has officially moved its headquarters to Mangochi!
This isnโt just a change of scenery. Itโs a strategic shift, grounded in values and vision. Weโre not just moving to the lakeshoreโweโre centering innovation where others least expect it.
Why Mangochi?
Mangochi has always held a special place in our story. It was here that we piloted one of our most successful programs under the Digital Malawi Projectโtraining youth in digital, entrepreneurial, and e-work skills through what is now called Digital Skills for Africa.
More than 600 young people participated. Many launched businesses. Some went on to freelance internationally. Others became local trainers in their communities. The results were transformativeโand proved that digital innovation doesnโt need to live in urban capitals to thrive.
Mangochi isnโt โrural.โ Itโs resourceful.
A New Home. A Stronger Foundation.
Today, weโre proud to call Mangochi our official home. Our new headquarters is hosted at Excel Primary Schools, under the leadership of Ms. Chimango Manduwi, who now also serves as Operations Lead at Kwathu Kollective.
Chimango, sister to our founder, is a powerhouse of purpose, holding a BBA from MUBAS and currently pursuing her MBA at UNIMA. As Managing Director of Excel Schools, sheโs bringing education and innovation togetherโexactly what Kwathu stands for.
This collaboration is more than logisticalโitโs symbolic. Weโre embedding digital innovation within a space of learning and community. A true home for Kwathu.
This Isnโt Just a Move. Itโs a Model.
Although our headquarters are now in Mangochi, Kwathu Kollective is a decentralized innovation ecosystem. We are not bound to one spaceโweโre building across borders.
Our model is designed to partner with existing hubs, technical colleges, and innovation spaces across:
- Malawi โ in Lilongwe, Blantyre, Zomba, Mzuzu, and beyond;
- Africa โ from Lusaka to Lagos, Nairobi to Kigali.
Instead of duplicating infrastructure, we co-create programs, embed learning platforms, and amplify whatโs already working.
Through partnerships, we bring Digital Skills for Africa to life, train young innovators, support startups, and foster community-based networks of creativity.
Rooted by the Lake. Reaching the Continent.
From Mangochi, we will:
- Train the next generation of African digital professionals.
- Support youth-led startups with funding, mentorship, and visibility.
- Roll out Digital Skills for Africa to secondary schools, colleges, and hubs.
- Host industry dialogues, capacity-building sessions, and innovation challenges.
- Build tools, tell stories, and drive policy from the bottom up.
This is not a retreat from the center. Itโs a redefinition of where the center should be.
Want to Collaborate? Letโs Talk.
Weโre calling on:
- Innovation hubs across Africa open to hosting programs;
- Development partners ready to co-fund inclusive models;
- Corporates seeking talent or grassroots partnerships;
- Government institutions aiming to scale youth empowerment;
- Educators and creatives eager to join something continental.
Whether youโre from a small town or a global capital, thereโs room for you in the Kwathu Kollective.
๐Weโve moved. Weโre grounded. And weโre growing.
Letโs build something beautiful from Mangochi, outward.
