Consumer Choice Awards 2025 | KWATHU KOLLECTIVE

Our Founder, Nthanda Manduwi, Wins Malawi’s Most Inspiring Female Corporate Leader Award

The Kwathu Kollective is proud to celebrate a major milestone in the journey of our Founder and Visionary, Nthanda Manduwi, who has been named Malawi’s Most Inspiring Female Corporate Leader by the Consumer Choice Awards Malawi (2025).

At just 29, Nthanda becomes the second woman to receive this prestigious recognition, following Professor Address Malata, Vice Chancellor of the Malawi University of Science and Technology. For all of us at Kwathu, this is more than a trophy. It is a powerful affirmation of the work, the vision, and the responsibility we carry as a collective.

From a Blog to a Movement

The Kwathu Kollective traces its roots to byntha.com, Nthanda’s personal blog launched in 2012. That space of digital storytelling evolved into the Ntha Foundation, a nonprofit rooted in education, innovation, and youth empowerment. And in time, it birthed Kwathu—a homegrown ecosystem for African creators, thinkers, and builders.

Today, the Kwathu Kollective is proud to lead initiatives such as:

  • Digital Skills for Africa (DSA)
  • Bants2Business
  • Music4Malawi
  • Q2 Games
  • and many more in the pipeline.

Each of these initiatives exists to create meaningful human resource pathways and invest in the capacity of young Africans to shape their futures—with technology, creativity, and bold imagination.

A Recognition Shared by Many

This award may bear one name, but it reflects the collective work of so many. It is a recognition of the teams that rise early and work late across our offices in Malawi, South Africa, and the United States. It is a nod to every partner, sponsor, and dreamer who has stood with us through seasons of risk and renewal.

Above all, it is a moment of pride for every young African girl with a dream to build. It reminds us that our stories—when told honestly, and pursued courageously—can become blueprints for change.

What’s Next for Kwathu

As we continue to scale our work across the continent, this award fuels our determination to:

  • Expand our digital hubs in Malawi and beyond
  • Foster regional collaboration among youth-led ventures
  • Infuse storytelling and gamification into education and civic life
  • Champion African representation in global innovation arenas

At Kwathu, we believe the future is not something to wait for—it is something we build. Together.

To everyone who voted, partnered, shared, and believed: thank you. Zikomo kwambiri. Yewo chomene. Sikomo kwejinji.

Let’s keep rising.
