On September 3rd, 2024, Bambino International Schools witnessed an exciting milestone with the launch of the Digital Literacy Club, an initiative driven by the Digital Skills for Africa (DSA) program. This event marked the beginning of a journey aimed at equipping students with essential digital skills, fostering a culture of innovation, and preparing them for the digital future.
A Collaborative Effort
The Kwathu Kollective team was present at Bambino International Schools to support this significant event. The DSA program, one of Kwathu Kollective’s key initiatives, aims to bridge the digital divide by providing students with the skills they need to thrive in a technology-driven world. The event saw enthusiastic participation from students eager to enhance their digital literacy.
The event began with an engaging presentation by Miss Rhoda Kamwaza, who introduced the Digital Literacy Club and highlighted the importance of digital skills in today’s world. Her presentation underscored the value that the club would offer, setting the stage for an inspiring and informative session.
Student Participation
We are thrilled to report that ten students signed up for the club during the event. These students, ranging from Year 8 to Year 10, have shown a keen interest in developing their digital skills.
The Sign-Up Day was not just about enrolling students; it was a celebration of collaboration and shared vision. After the presentation, students were invited to sign up for the club, and we took group photos to commemorate the occasion. These photos will serve as a record of the event and a promotion for the Digital Literacy Club, capturing the excitement and enthusiasm of the students.
Looking Ahead
The first Digital Literacy Club class is scheduled to begin on Thursday, September 5th, at 2:30 PM. We are excited to start engaging with the students on digital skills development. Our plan is to implement these teachings twice a week over the course of the term, ensuring that students receive consistent and comprehensive training.
Our Commitment
At Kwathu Kollective, we are committed to empowering students through digital education. By collaborating with Bambino International Schools, we aim to create a supportive and dynamic learning environment where students can thrive. Our goal is to nurture their growth, inspire innovation, and prepare them for the challenges and opportunities of the digital age.
We look forward to seeing the positive impact of the Digital Literacy Club on the students’ development and are confident that this initiative will pave the way for a brighter, more digitally literate future.
