Cohort 2 Graduation: Nyenyezi Entrepreneurship Fellowship | KWATHU UPGRADE

We proudly celebrate the graduation of the Cohort 2 Nyenyezi Fellows, a group of six outstanding students from the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) who have successfully fulfilled all the academic requirements of a Bachelor of Science in Business Information Technology — including their entrepreneurial attachment through the Nyenyezi Entrepreneurship Fellowship (NEF).

This milestone marks the culmination of years of hard work, academic excellence, and innovative exploration, as well as the completion of a practical, purpose-driven fellowship experience designed to prepare them for the world beyond the classroom.

A Fellowship Rooted in Innovation

The Nyenyezi Entrepreneurship Fellowship, delivered in collaboration with Kwathu Kollective, was designed as a non-traditional attachment programme — one that exposed students to the dynamic world of entrepreneurship and innovation. Rather than being placed in conventional office environments, these fellows were immersed in a space that challenged them to think critically, identify problems in their communities, and build solutions through business models.

Throughout the programme, they received mentorship from seasoned entrepreneurs and industry experts. They participated in design thinking sessions, business development workshops, and pitch reviews — equipping them with the tools needed to develop ventures with real-world relevance and impact.

From Students to Solution Builders

Each fellow took on the challenge of conceptualizing and developing a venture rooted in the Malawian context — tackling issues in sectors such as agriculture, education, e-commerce, and sustainability. Their projects reflected a deep understanding of community needs, as well as a strong grasp of digital tools and business strategy.

Their efforts were affirmed during an on-site assessment by MUST lecturers, who engaged the fellows in reflective discussions about their growth, their projects, and how the fellowship helped bridge the gap between theory and practice.

Where They Are Now

With their degrees officially conferred, these graduates are ready to take the next step — some continuing to build on their fellowship ventures, others pursuing professional opportunities in tech, business, or development. What unites them is a new mindset: one shaped by innovation, resilience, and a willingness to lead with purpose.

“Before the fellowship, entrepreneurship felt out of reach. Now I see it as a mindset I can carry into any space I enter — whether I’m building a business or working within an organization,”
Maziko Dunkalo

A Future in Their Hands

We are incredibly proud of what these graduates have accomplished — not just in earning their degrees, but in showing what’s possible when young people are trusted to build, lead, and innovate on their own terms.

To the graduates of Nyenyezi Fellowship Cohort 2, congratulations on reaching this significant milestone. You’ve not only completed your studies — you’ve stepped into the world as changemakers, and we can’t wait to see what you do next.
