As part of our mission to bridge the gap between academia and industry, Kwathu Kollective, in collaboration with the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST), is set to host the Career Readiness Workshop on 11th January 2025. This transformative initiative aims to equip students with critical skills necessary for a seamless transition into professional life.
A Day of Learning and Growth
The workshop will bring together students from across Malawi through a hybrid format, accommodating both in-person and virtual participation. Attendees will gather at the Kwathu Kowork Spaces in Lilongwe, as well as online via MS Teams, ensuring accessibility for all.
The event is designed to provide practical, hands-on learning experiences, with sessions facilitated by industry professionals and career development consultants. Students will engage in interactive activities, real-world scenarios, and one-on-one mentoring opportunities, gaining invaluable insights to shape their career journeys.
Key Areas to be Covered
The workshop will focus on five essential areas of career readiness:
- CV Writing and LinkedIn Optimization: Students will learn how to craft standout CVs and optimize their LinkedIn profiles to establish a strong professional online presence.
- Interview Preparation and Professional Etiquette: Facilitators will provide strategies for acing interviews and emphasize the importance of workplace etiquette.
- Digital Skills and Workplace Technology: Participants will explore tools and technologies critical for modern workplaces, enhancing their digital literacy.
- Communication and Networking: The session will emphasize effective communication techniques and the art of building professional relationships.
- Time Management and Leadership Skills: Students will be introduced to strategies for prioritizing tasks and developing leadership capabilities for career growth.
Capstone Introduction and Industry Insights
The workshop will also conclude with an introduction to the upcoming Capstone Project. Students will gain insights into industry expectations, setting the stage for them to apply their newly acquired skills in real-world contexts.
A Collaborative Effort
This workshop is part of a larger initiative under the Career Readiness Program, which envisions shaping a new generation of African leaders and innovators. By working with strategic partners like MUST, Kwathu Kollective continues to foster a culture of readiness, creativity, and excellence among students.
