African Union Day Celebration | EDUCATING AND SKILLING AFRICA

On September 9th, 2024, African Union Day was celebrated at the Sunbird Capital Hotel in Lilongwe, Malawi, under the theme “Educate and Skill Africa for the 21st Century.” This theme aligns perfectly with Kwathu Kollective’s mission and our Digital Skills for Africa initiative. Our initiative aims to equip young Africans with the digital literacy and technological skills necessary to thrive in today’s global economy. During the event, we showcased our latest projects and programs, demonstrating our commitment to fostering a digitally skilled and innovative youth population in Africa.

Event Highlights

The evening was filled with lively performances, inspirational speeches, and forward-thinking initiatives. The event began with the rhythms of African music, followed by the national anthem of Malawi and the African Union anthem, capturing the essence of unity and pride in Africa’s cultural heritage.

A highlight of the night was the premiere of the Ntha Foundation 2024 video, which showcased our core mission and achievements. We extend our gratitude to the teams at Ntha Foundation and African Union SARO for their collaboration in making this premiere a reality.

Key figures, including Ms. Rebecca Adda-Dontoh, Amb. Dr. Nancy Saungweme, and Amb. David Claude Pierre, shared their thoughts on the importance of education in Africa’s development. Malawi’s Ministers, Hon. Nancy Tembo and Hon. Madalitso Kambauwa Wirima, also delivered powerful speeches emphasizing the need for digital skills and innovation.

The event concluded with a colorful performance by a local dance troupe and vibrant African music, celebrating the shared vision for a brighter future. Kwathu Kollective is honored to have been part of this significant celebration of African unity and progress, reinforcing our commitment to ensuring that African youth have the education and skills needed to thrive in the global economy.
