About Lawrent

Lawrent Chowe is a final-year Computer Systems and Security student at the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST) with a strong interest in cybersecurity, systems development, and emerging technologies. His academic journey has equipped him with a solid foundation in secure computing, software systems, and digital security, while fostering a passion for building technology solutions that are both innovative and reliable.

Beyond his studies, Lawrent has distinguished himself as both a student and a practitioner. During his time at MUST, he served as a Tutor in Public-Key Cryptology, supporting third-year students in understanding encryption, cryptographic systems, and secure communication methods. This experience not only strengthened his technical expertise but also enhanced his leadership, mentorship, and communication skills.

His Journey at Kwathu

Through the programme, he contributes to technology-driven projects that support innovation, digital transformation, and community development.

As part of his responsibilities, Lawrent serves as Team Lead for the Game Development Project, where he oversees planning activities, coordinates development efforts, and supports team members through technical challenges. In this role, he works to ensure that security, functionality, and system integrity remain central throughout the development process while helping guide projects from concept to implementation.

Known for his discipline, reliability, and strong work ethic, Lawrent approaches every task with focus and a commitment to excellence. He adapts quickly to new technologies and environments, values teamwork and open communication, and consistently strives to deliver high-quality results. Driven by a passion for continuous learning and growth, he aspires to use his cybersecurity and systems development expertise to create secure, resilient, and impactful technology solutions that strengthen organizations, empower communities, and contribute to Africa’s digital future.
