The Kwathu Upgrade initiative is a flagship multi-platform project under the Kwathu Kollective, which aims at building the capacity of young creatives in Malawi through interactive workshops, Management training programs, business development training, business incubation, content development, networking opportunities, and distribution as well as showcase events.
Call for Applications: SALIMA DISTRICT
With funding from Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH through AFC-MIERA II under the MUZI Ecosystem Initiative, Ntha Foundation is pleased to announce that we have opened a call for applications for the Kwathu Upgrade: My Malawi Travel Edition, taking place in Salima.
The project entails training for 60 tourism entrepreneurs across Salima and Zomba. Divided into two cohorts, each district’s 30 participants will undergo two months of immersive Digital and Entrepreneurship training, a business incubation to enrich their skills and amplify their entrepreneurial journey.
The Kwathu Upgrade: My Malawi Travel Edition aims to strengthen the tourism sector in the Salima and Zomba districts of Malawi by providing comprehensive Digital and Entrepreneurship skills training and support to local tourism entrepreneurs.
Our mission in this edition is to bolster the tourism industry in Salima and Zomba districts by empowering local entrepreneurs, particularly women-led and youth-led SMEs.
Eligibility Criteria
- Applicants be residents of Salima District
- Entrepreneurs involved in the tourism sector
- Women and People with disabilities encouraged to apply

The Pitch Session: Bants2Business – Tourism Edition
One of the highlights is the Bants2Business: Tourism Edition pitch sessions. Beginning at regional levels in Salima and Zomba, participants will pitch their businesses and submit proposals.
