“My Malawi travel” Comes to Salima | KWATHU UPGRADE

We’re thrilled to announce a groundbreaking partnership between the Kwathu Kollective through Ntha Foundation and Salima Technical College, marking a significant milestone in our journey to drive positive change and innovation in Malawi. This collaboration is part of the Muzi Ecosystem initiative under the “More Income and Employment in Rural Areas- MIERA II” project by GIZ in Malawi.

Ntha Foundation Partners with Salima Technical College to Boost Local Tourism: Introducing “My Malawi Travel: Kwathu Upgrade Edition”

At the heart of this partnership lies our shared commitment to support women-led and youth-led Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and individuals from marginalized communities engaged in tourism-related trades. We recognize these individuals as the unsung heroes of the local tourism sector, whose success is vital for the industry’s overall growth and prosperity.

Under the banner of “My Malawi Travel: Kwathu Upgrade Edition,” our project aims to revitalize and strengthen the tourism sector in Salima and Zomba. Leveraging the expertise and resources of both the Ntha Foundation and Salima Technical College, we will implement the “Kwathu Upgrade: Tourism Edition” initiative, designed to empower local entrepreneurs and enhance the tourism experience for visitors.

The project’s multifaceted approach will focus on several key areas:

  1. Skills Development: Through training programs and workshops conducted by Salima Technical College, local entrepreneurs will gain essential skills and knowledge in tourism management, customer service, and marketing strategies.
  2. Infrastructure Enhancement: The Ntha Foundation will collaborate with Salima Technical College to upgrade and modernize tourism facilities, including accommodation, transportation, and recreational amenities, to meet the evolving needs of travelers.
  3. Community Engagement: Engaging with local communities is fundamental to our approach. We will work closely with community leaders and stakeholders to ensure that the project aligns with their needs and aspirations, fostering a sense of ownership and sustainability.
  4. Promotional Campaigns: Leveraging our networks and platforms, we will launch targeted marketing campaigns to promote Salima and Zomba as premier tourist destinations, showcasing their rich cultural heritage, natural beauty, and unique experiences.

Through the “My Malawi Travel: Kwathu Upgrade Edition” project, we envision a future where local entrepreneurs thrive, communities prosper, and tourists immerse themselves in the vibrant tapestry of Malawian culture and hospitality. Together with Salima Technical College and our partners at GIZ, we are committed to realizing this vision and unlocking the full potential of Malawi’s tourism sector.

Stay tuned for updates as we embark on this transformative journey towards a brighter, more inclusive future for tourism in Salima and Zomba.
