Project Closure (Malawi Wanga) | KWATHU UPGRADE

As we close the chapter on the Kwathu Upgrade: Malawi Wanga project, implemented under the Muzi Ecosystem Initiative—supported by GOPA-AFC as part of GIZ’s “More Income and Employment in Rural Areas – MIERA II” programme, we are filled with immense pride and gratitude for the milestones achieved. This project, made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Kwathu Kollective and its dedicated partners, has been a testament to the transformative power of creativity, innovation, and community-driven development.

A Journey of Empowerment and Growth

Launched with the vision of strengthening the tourism sector in Salima and Zomba districts, the Kwathu Upgrade: Malawi Wanga project set out to empower local entrepreneurs through comprehensive training in digital media. Focusing on women-led, youth-led SMEs, and marginalized individuals in tourism trades, the project aimed to enhance skills in hospitality, tour guiding, content creation, cultural performance, and more.

Over the past months, participants have engaged in hands-on workshops, mentorship sessions, and collaborative opportunities designed to unlock their potential and provide them with the tools to thrive in a competitive digital landscape. From mastering storytelling techniques to building strong online presences, the entrepreneurs have demonstrated resilience, creativity, and a commitment to excellence.
