About Angella
Angella Banda is a final-year Business Information Technology student at the Malawi University of Science and Technology (MUST), where she has developed a strong foundation at the intersection of business strategy and technology. Her academic journey reflects a growing interest in how digital solutions can be used to improve organizations, drive innovation, and address real-world challenges.
Through her studies, Angella has gained an understanding of both business operations and information systems, enabling her to approach problems from strategic and technical perspectives. Her academic interests include data systems, artificial intelligence, digital transformation, and technology-driven innovation, areas she believes will play a critical role in shaping the future of Africa’s economies and industries.
Her Journey at Kwathu
Angella is currently undertaking her internship with the Kwathu Kollective through the M’mawa Apprenticeship Programme (MAP), a hands-on professional development initiative that combines structured learning with practical workplace experience. Through the programme, she contributes to projects spanning Data & AI, Game Development, Robotics, Digital Skills for Africa, and innovation-focused initiatives across the Kwathu ecosystem.
She currently serves as Team Leader for the Q2 Systems Project, where she coordinates project activities, supports implementation efforts, and helps ensure alignment between technical development and broader organizational objectives. This role has allowed her to strengthen her leadership, communication, and project management skills while working alongside multidisciplinary teams.
Prior to joining Kwathu, Angella served as a secondary school teacher in Domasi, an experience that enhanced her ability to communicate effectively, mentor others, and foster learning environments. Her passion for education continues beyond the classroom through her work as a STEM and SHEROSE mentor, where she supports primary and secondary school students in Thyolo by encouraging confidence, ambition, and participation in science, technology, and innovation.
Driven by a commitment to service, innovation, and continuous growth, Angella believes technology should be a tool for empowerment and inclusive development. She is passionate about bridging the gap between business needs and technological solutions, supporting young people through mentorship, and contributing to innovation ecosystems that create meaningful impact. As she continues her professional journey, she aspires to help build solutions that are not only technologically effective, but also socially transformative and accessible to the communities they serve.
