Project Insight
The Muzi Ecosystem Initiative, a collaborative effort with the Ntha Foundation and an integral part of the GIZ’s “More Income and Employment in Rural Areas – MIERA II” project, has been instrumental in fostering the growth of women-led and youth-led SMEs within the vibrant tourism sector of Malawi, with a special focus on Salima and Zomba. The initiative’s flagship program, Kwathu Upgrade: Malawi Wanga edition, has successfully equipped 39 tourism entrepreneurs with advanced digital and business acumen.
Regional Pitch Events
Our gratitude extends to the communities of Salima and Zomba, where we conducted initial pitch events on the 17th and 20th of July, 2024, respectively. These events were a testament to the participants’ dedication, as they presented their business concepts and submitted their proposals. From these regional showcases, four outstanding entrepreneurs have been chosen to advance to the final showdown in Lilongwe.
Finals and Awards The finalists are set to engage in a spirited competition for the coveted awards, with the winner receiving €800, followed by €500 for the second place, €300 for the third, and €200 for the fourth. The anticipation for the final event in Lilongwe is palpable.
