Fostering Innovation and Creativity: Office of the President and Cabinet | KWATHU KOLLECTIVE

Nthanda Manduwi envisioned a space where creatives could converge, exchange ideas, and ignite innovation. Kwathu Koffee was born from this vision.  This initiative allowed innovators, artists, tech enthusiasts, and dreamers to collaborate, brainstorm, and create. This was happening through teams and physically visiting the Kwathu Koworking spaces to exchange these ideas

Notable Visitors

1. Department of Innovations and Creativity (Office of the President and Cabinet)

Recently, Kwathu Koffee had the honor of hosting a delegation from the Department of Innovations and Creativity, Office of the President and Cabinet (OPC). Among the distinguished guests were:

  • Isaac Banda, Director of Innovation, Science, and Technology in the OPC
  • Orbort Ngwira, Chief Skills Development Officer
  • Lindanani Nankhonya, Innovation Officer

Their visit underscored the importance of fostering creativity and collaboration at the grassroots level. Kwathu Koffee became a melting pot of ideas, with these influential figures engaging in lively discussions with young entrepreneurs, artists, and tech enthusiasts.

2. The Shima Stove Innovator

Another memorable moment at Kwathu Koffee was the arrival of an ingenious innovator, Titom Thomas Mpwesiwa. With his Shima stove, he changed cooking by using pellets made from sawdust and waste. The Shima stove blends traditional cooking with modern technology, making it efficient, smokeless, and easy to use. The Kwathu Koffee community was impressed by the Shima stove’s potential impact on Malawi’s cooking and environment.
